Wescom Resources Group (WRG), a subsidiary of Wescom Credit Union and provider of technology solutions for credit unions, hosted its first-ever traveling “Road Show” event on November 10, 2009, in Romulus, MI. The event, hosted by select members of WRG’s technology and sales teams, was attended by several credit union associates from the area.
The meeting provided real-world credit union solutions on topics such as collections automation, online banking innovation, CARD Act compliance, Member Relationship Management, and ePolicies. Presentations were delivered by John Best, chief technology officer, and James Burke-Frazier, senior technology consultant, of WRG. Their expertise, combined with that of Gina Kovacs and Jacob Clouse, also WRG team members, enabled attendees to plug into rich content across the wide variety of topics. At day’s end, the attendees were provided with flash drives containing presentation notes as well as program files that could be implemented in their credit union.
The single-day event was designed to provide the content normally conveyed over a multi-day conference, bundled into a single day at a drive-able location. Dana Keller, WRG’s eastern US sales executive, planned and organized the event. “With credit union travel and conference budgets severely slashed this past year, we decided it is important to bring a conference to clients at a location that is convenient and budget-friendly. Since Detroit has a large number of local credit unions, this location was perfect.”
Derek Allerding, vice president of information technologies at St. Francis X. Federal Credit Union, was one of twelve attendees. “The WRG conference was great. It gave me a lot of ideas for making what we do better and more efficient,” he noted. Marsha Clark, chief information officer at Option 1 Credit Union, who drove in from Grand Rapids, agreed. “It was well worth the drive and day away from the office,” she said, describing the meeting as “informative and entertaining.”
