Wescom Resources Group to Implement Software Solutions at Tinker FCU

11/29/2004

Wescom Resources Group (WRG), a leading provider of cost-effective and comprehensive technology solutions to credit unions, announced today that Tinker Federal Credit Union ($1.3 billion, 173,842 members) will integrate a dozen WRG software solutions upon completion of its Symitar conversion on May 31, 2005. As a result of the simultaneous WRG and Symitar launch, Tinker Federal, located in Oklahoma City, Okla., will be able to drastically improve the technology services provided to its members, allowing them to experience enhanced efficiencies in applying for loans, memberships and managing their accounts online.

Tinker will implement the following WRG solutions:

  • Online Membership Application
  • Automated Lending Solution
  • CU Integrator
  • Bill Pay
  • Home Banking
  • Skip-A-Pay
  • eAlerts
  • Relationship Certificate
  • Member-Directed ACH
  • Automated Hold Decisioning
  • Interface to FDR
  • Interface to FICS

"We've taken a very aggressive stance in implementing more than one solution at our ‘go live' date," states Ben Mannahan, project manager for Tinker Federal. "This will benefit our members both short tem and long term, providing them with greater ease and convenience in applying for loans, memberships and managing their accounts online. What benefits our members benefits us."

Mannahan adds that his staff currently spends most of their time dealing with computer issues, which takes them away from working with members. Following the Symitar conversion and implementation of WRG's solutions, he believes the credit union's workflow will be much smoother. This improved process will enable the staff to spend more time with the members, developing relationships for enhanced service and cross-selling purposes.

"We want to be focused on meeting our members' needs, not our computers' needs," he says. "We should be focusing 100 percent of our attention toward our members. With this new technology, we'll be able to achieve this goal because our processes will be much more efficient."

Although most of the new technology solutions will have to wait until the Symitar launch next May, Mannahan plans to get a jump on the conversion date by integrating WRG's bill pay solution with its current core processing system in January 2005. WRG has developed a configuration that allows the online bill payment service to work with the credit union's current core processor. Tinker is the first WRG client to use the software provider's bill pay solution not using the Symitar system. The credit union's members will be able to experience the benefits of bill pay immediately.

"Our goal is to start day one with a fully functional and feature rich system for our members," Mannahan says. "We believe Wescom Resources has the software and the expertise to help us accomplish this goal.

We look at WRG as a strategic partner in helping us get achieve a successful conversion." "We look forward to providing Tinker with a fully functional, financial technology suite," states Kevin Sarber, president of Wescom Resources Group. "And I agree, it is an aggressive goal to accomplish during a conversion, but the end result will be greatly improved efficiencies for their members when applying for membership and loans, as well as managing their accounts online through home banking."
