KEMBA Financial Credit Union has utilized Wescom Resources Groups’ CU Integrator technology to streamline its loan origination process. Columbus, Ohio-based KEMBA Financial ($234 million, 36,572 members) used CU Integrator to integrate its lending origination system,Home Bank Technologies’ LoanStation™, with Symitar’s core processing Episys™ system.
As a result, KEMBA Financial now processes more loans in a shorter time, providing better member service. Nearly all of the previously required manual procedures, such as re-keying member data, have now been eliminated.
Using CU Integrator, KEMBA Financial developed “middleware” that enables LoanStation and Episys to communicate more efficiently. CU Integrator’s real-time interface acts as a conduit from LoanStation to Episys, allowing applicant information to be pulled from Episys into LoanStation, and pushing completed loan data from LoanStation into Episys.
According to Carrie Hopkins, MIS systems analyst for KEMBA Financial, users still need to perform the final steps of creating all monetary transactions in Episys. The next phase is to eliminate that final step by sending transaction data from LoanStation to Episys using the middleware. Once that task is done, checks can be issued directly from LoanStation and all other funding tasks will be automatic, allowing the credit union to process loans even faster.
“Using CU Integrator, our MSRs can serve members more efficiently instead of contending with a complicated computer system,” Hopkins said. “Now we can process a loan in just a few minutes, whereas before it took us up to an hour.
“The really big advantage here is that CU Integrator offers a real-time interface to Episys, providing immediate inquiry and maintenance functionality,” Hopkins continued. “With CU Integrator, you don’t have to build a custom interface for each software package. Basically, it’s a universal adapter for Episys.”
This versatility will allow KEMBA FCU to use CU Integrator for other projects such as online member surveys, online member applications, and more robust Internet home banking functionality. CU Integrator will also allow KEMBA Financial to perform more programming in-house, rather than depending on third party vendors.
“KEMBA Financial is a perfect example of how a credit union can utilize CU Integrator,” states Kevin Sarber, president of Wescom Resources Group. “It demonstrates how credit unions can take advantage of the flexibility and cost savings of CU Integrator to create in-house financial technology services.”
About CU Integrator
CU Integrator provides a stable, efficient, and standard integration layer that enhances interfacing to the Episys system. CU Integrator includes a powerful SDK, which can be used in conjunction with best-ofbreed development environments, such as Microsoft Visual Studio .Net, to produce robust Windows®, Intranet, or Internet applications that easily integrate to Episys.
CU Integrator also mitigates the previous requirement to retain individuals with knowledge and expertise of native, proprietary languages. The SDK allows credit unions to reach into a vast new market of programming talent that was previously unavailable due to the dependency of host proprietary languages.
